RASAS has been offering services to Syrians and refugees in Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul since 2014 and is one of the strongest organisations providing comprehensive and integrated services for refugees. Since its establishment, the centre provides multiple services for refugees and asylum seekers in areas of protection, non-formal education and social cohesion through trainings, awareness raising activities, counselling and MHPSS services as well as shelter support and refugee committees.

Providing integrated social services to refugees and the host community through community centre structure
About the project
The primary goal of the project is to support vulnerable refugees and members of the host community to access existing social services and to provide needs-based protection programmes that improve people’s living conditions, wellbeing and to promote social cohesion.
Planned activities
- Social Cohesion: activities promoting the positive interaction opportunities, improving cultural dialogue between local community and refugees in Sultanbeyli.
- Non-Formal Education: Facilitating social cohesion, access to labour market and increasing resilience capacity through Turkish language courses.
- Advisory and Information / PSS: individual or group counselling, MHPSS, case management, legal consultation, referral to state services / registration support.
- Referrals: transportation, translation and accompaniment.
- Awareness Raising, Advocacy and Empowerment: seminars, refugee committees, advocacy campaigns, information meetings on different topics
Cash Response Programme:
- Location: İstanbul, Sakarya
- Objective: To support well-being by providing cash support to earthquake survivors outside the earthquake region.
- Activities: Needs assessments in Turkish, Arabic, and Farsi to understand the specific needs of affected families via phone calls, one-off cash support to identified vulnerable households, post-distribution monitoring, and evaluating.
