A colourful gift from beneficiaries to IBC Konya Community Hub

Ahmed, who is enrolled in Turkish language classes, teamed up with our Konya team and other beneficiaries to redesign the centre’s child-friendly area.

Ahmed, who reconnected with his self-confidence and abilities, through the passion he had for the course, came to Türkiye at the age of 33, four years after leaving Iraq, where he was born and raised. Due to the crisis and unstable environment in his country, he is trying to maintain his life in Türkiye. At IBC Konya Community Hub, Ahmed improves his Turkish while also receiving legal and psychological support.

I always thought that if I saw the world as beautiful, it would be beautiful,” Ahmed, who is a professional journalist, said. “But there were days when nothing went right. I learned to be happy by overcoming the challenges that life throws my way. IBC has been my most committed supporter throughout this journey. I almost isolated myself until I began the Turkish course, but the team here supported me so warmly that I began to feel better day by day.”

In the future, Ahmet hopes to establish personal development and art workshops, particularly for displaced and disadvantaged people.
