In the 2024-2025 school year, over 229,000 Syrian children under temporary protection remain out of school in Türkiye. Despite laws mandating 12 years of compulsory education, financial hardship, lack of identification, and limited resources hinder refugee children’s access to education, increasing their vulnerabilities.
The Community-based Local Initiatives Project (CLIP), co-funded by the Humanitarian Aid Operations department (DG ECHO) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is dedicated to ensuring no child is left behind while fostering community resilience and sustainable recovery in Türkiye.
Recognizing the crucial link between stability and education, CLIP has implemented two programs to bridge the educational gap, especially following the 2023 earthquakes. The first, Cash2Lift, aims to prevent school dropouts by providing targeted cash support to at-risk children. This program has enabled over 6,400 children in affected areas to enrol and continue their education.
The second program, Education-Focused Case Management (EFCM), goes beyond financial aid, offering individualized support to children at risk. EFCM ensures they have the necessary materials, resources, and guidance to stay in school, reaching 1,710 children with additional in-kind support.
Through Cash2Lift and EFCM, CLIP helps families meet basic needs, allowing children to continue their education uninterrupted and thrive academically. These programs offer vulnerable children, both refugees and host community members, the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
The five videos below, circulating on ADA Türkiye Peer Support Network’s social media channels as a part of the Cash2Lift Chronicles campaign, highlight the stories of five families who received education-focused support to ensure their children can continue their studies without interruption.
