With its field studies on refugees, Gökkuşağı Association aims to cater for refugees in Adıyaman, ensuring their access to rights and services and improving their welfare and socioeconomic lives. The Association’s mission entails increasing the social cohesion and participation of disabled refugees and their refugee caregivers, mobilizing relevant institutions, making more specific efforts to raise awareness in the local and refugee community about the disabled individuals and ensure equality.

Providing access to non-formal education for PwD and caregivers in Adıyaman and increasing wellbeing by reducing protection risks and contributing to PwD’s social cohesion
About the project
The project’s objectives are to identify refugees with disabilities and their caregivers in Adıyaman, assess protection risks, protect refugees with disabilities from gender-based violence, increase their awareness and access to other protection services and contribute to social cohesion.
Planned activities
- Non-Formal Education: Vocational, life skills and language courses
- Protection: Case management, counselling, awareness-raising sessions, needs assessments, accommodation in emergencies and PSS for disabled refugees and caregivers
- Social Cohesion: Conversation and youth club, cultural and city trips, special day activities, sports events, workshops/events for intercultural learning
- Awareness-Raising: Activities for service unit personnel, public and non-governmental organisations and mukhtars in Adıyaman and its districts that provide for refugees and caregivers
- Establishment of disability committees and solidarity groups to provide feedback for the services and activities to meet the needs involved
