Human Resource Development Foundation (HRDF)

Project completed

HRDF aims to contribute to solution of problems related to health, education and employment. The organization has been implementing various projects in the field of migration since 1989, including services of legal, psychological, and social services. Supported by UNHCR, HRDF provides refugees with services in eight provinces.

HRDF’s Esenler Multi-Services Centre targets Syrian refugees since 2014 while the other seven project offices target non-Syrian refugees.

About the project

The project consists of various protection services (psycho-social support, etc.) for Syrian refugees and activities aimed at strengthening social cohesion and integration with local communities.

Project activities will be carried out remotely and/or at the centre, within the framework of Covid-19 health and working conditions, through the HRDF Multi-Purpose Support Centre, which has been operating in Esenler since 2014.

The overall objective of the project is to facilitate and increase the welfare and interaction of Syrian refugees with the host community through various social cohesion and protection activities.

Planned activities

  • Developing social cohesion activities between Syrian and local communities through remote/online activities:
  • Hobby hour; Women’s Solidarity Group for Social Cohesion; Rhythm workshop for children; International Women’s Day Celebration; World Refugee Day Celebration; Turkish Speaking Club; Children’s workshops
  • Empowerment of particularly vulnerable Syrian refugees with remote/online psycho-social support:   Social/Health/Educational counseling; Group activities; Referral to public institutions; Individual / Group psychological support; Referral to psychiatric services; Emergency support services; Breast and Uterine Cancer screening referral
  • Activities to raise awareness and resilience of refugees: Legal seminars; Group work with the support of Syrian moderators and HRDF staff; Istanbul orientation meetings; Women’s Solidarity Group moderator trainings
  • On-site or online visits to local authorities to strengthen the continuity of the Esenler centre
