Ahmed: Crafting his hope with cash support

Ahmed escaped from the civil war and uneasy environment in Syria and took refuge in Türkiye where he had to struggle with economic and social issues. Ahmed was a talented tailor in Syria, but after coming to Türkiye, he faced new challenges, such as new health problems and caring for his disabled daughter, who required constant attention. However, the cash assistance he received within the scope of the Community Based Local Initiatives Project (CLIP 2) opened a door of hope for Ahmed to overcome these difficulties.

Ahmed visited the International Blue Crescent Humanitarian Aid and Development Foundation (IBC) in Kilis, where he settled, and benefited from the services provided with the support of the European Union and the German government. The financial support Ahmed received within the scope of protection activities not only met his immediate needs, but also revived his entrepreneurial spirit. Ahmed, who started producing edible play dough and castor oil using his creativity, had the opportunity to turn his skills into a sustainable source of income. This small business venture encouraged Ahmed to improve the quality of life of his disabled daughter and provide financial stability for his family.

“This support reignited my hope and provided the resources to sustain my family through any challenges,” shares Ahmed.

Ahmed’s story is a reminder of how important cash support is for economic and social autonomy in the face of difficulties. Ahmed, who was able to meet his urgent needs before providing the basic conditions for economic stability, overcame an important obstacle towards achieving his ideals by using this support as a stepping stone.

Today, Ahmed continues to advocate for more inclusive support for individuals with disabilities and strives to create a more liveable society for disabled individuals like his daughter. Ahmed’s journey once again highlights how important cash support assistance can be in helping individuals rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
