Independent Doctors Association (IDA)

Independent Doctors Association has been working in such fields as health, nutrition, protection and hygiene for nearly 10 years. Their work involves ensuring that refugees have easy access to protection, livelihood and phytotherapy services. Their efforts focus on communities in Northwest Syria, as well as a refugee programme in Türkiye (Kilis and Gaziantep). IDA is a UNHCR 3RP partner, a member of the DITF (Disability and Inclusion Task Force), and co-chairs the SET Health SubWorking Group. IDA collaborates closely with the Syria Task Force in Kilis, the PDMM, the Provincial Directorate of Health, the Municipalities of Kilis and İş-Kur and the Governorate.

About the project

The project’s objective is to empower PwD while also encouraging social cohesion among the host community and refugees under temporary protection. Through appropriate activities, the project aims to provide a safe space for individuals in Kilis province from various social backgrounds:

  • Improve social cohesion among PWD, refugees, host community, elders and youth
  • Develop the capacity of individuals participating from different ages and fields; increase information sharing, life skills; empower individuals with rightful guidance and referrals
  • Enhance the awareness level of people, specifically the youth; share correct information; encourage voluntarism among the youth for the benefit of the whole society

Planned activities

  • Protection: PSS sessions regarding SGBV mitigation, child protection and counselling, case management services, referral, follow-up and awareness sessions for vulnerable groups such as survivors of SGBV
