Van Hearing-Impaired Persons and Their Families Association (VIED)

Project in progress

Established in 2007, the association is active in Van working to ensure the access of hearing impaired individuals to equal rights and equal opportunities regardless of their gender, nationality, language and religion. VIED focuses on preventing discrimination against persons with disabilities, improving the rights of persons with disabilities and respect for differences, and ensuring that persons with disabilities benefit from equal opportunities. It aims to create common working areas among civil society organisations and to contribute to the strengthening of information sharing among organizations and institutions working in the field of disabilities.

About the project

The project aims to improve disabled refugees’ and host community members’ access to existing services in Van’s city centre through a series of integrated interventions that include protection, non-formal education and social cohesion activities. The project’s objective is to reach out to Afghan and Iranian refugees, as well as host community members with disabilities and their families.
