Alliance of International Doctors (AID) is an international organisation aiming at reaching people in need of medical help. Established in Istanbul in 2011, AID carries out health education, health assistance, preventive health services, treatment and rehabilitation services in many parts of the world through volunteer healthcare professionals. Current projects include Prosthesis-Orthotics Project, Cataract Project, Syria Studies, Pregnancy Support Project, and School for Pregnant Women projects.

Promoting Protection and Social Cohesion Activities for Refugee and Host Community Women and Children

About the project

Objectives of the project include empowering women with thematic trainings, performing social cohesion activities for members of refugee and host communities, and providing intimacy trainings for children.

The project aims to empower women with sessions to be presented on different topics such as women’s health, access to healthcare services, exercises of the right to health, group psycho-social support activities, awareness raising sessions on domestic violence and women’s rights. Through the project, beneficiary women will acquire basic knowledge by participating in trainings and information sessions, while children will benefit from the child-friendly area.

In addition to the trainings, activities will be carried out for individuals in need of protection on the exercise of social rights, and people will be referred to relevant public institutions. Finally, social cohesion activities will be carried out for women from the host and refugee communities.

Planned activities

  • Social cohesion activities for host and refugee women
  • Information sessions for women on women’s health, access to healthcare services and the exercise of the right to health
  • Case management for individuals in need of health support, legal support or social support, accompanied by a social worker, and their referral to relevant institutions
  • A session on «Domestic Violence and Women’s Rights» for women
