RASAS has been offering services to Syrians and refugees in Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul since 2014 and is one of the strongest organisations providing comprehensive and integrated services for refugees. Since its establishment, the centre provides multiple services for refugees and asylum seekers in areas of protection, non-formal education and social cohesion through trainings, awareness raising activities, counselling and MHPSS services as well as shelter support and refugee committees.

Providing Integrated Social Services to Refugees and Local Populations through Community Centre Structure
About the project
Objectives of the project are to support vulnerable refugees and host communities in accessing available social services and needs-based protection programmes with the aim to improve their well-being and living conditions as well as promoting social cohesion.
RASAS contributes to the development of cultural dialogue between the local people and refugees living in Sultanbeyli by taking advantage of positive interaction opportunities through its activities. It facilitates social cohesion and access of beneficiaries to the labour market besides providing language classes, to increase their resilience and wellbeing.
Planned activities
- Professional staff, specialised protection services and targeted referral for vulnerable communities
- Social cohesion activities that bring local people and refugees together; Awareness-Raising, Culture and Sports Events, Excursions, Art and Music Workshops, Special Day Events and Refugee Assembly
- Seminars for empowerment and awareness: Refugee Rights, Labour Rights, Children’s Rights, Hygiene Practices, Family Planning, Identity Issues, Women’s Rights, etc.
- Turkish language courses at different levels to ensure social cohesion and increase access to employment opportunities
