Takaful Al Sham (TAS) has been registered in Türkiye since 2013, working to support refugees and the host community in Türkiye. Recently, TAS- through its Refugee Response Programme – has begun to expand its scope of work to include other countries, besides Türkiye. TAS works to respond to the needs of refugees in the areas of protection, social cohesion, and livelihoods, in order to help give them hope for a better life and future while supporting their integration with the host communities.

About the project
The overall objective of the project is to improve the life of the refugees and the earthquake affected Turkish host/local community in the city centre of Elazığ, through multiple integrated interventions including protection, non-formal education and social cohesion activities.
The project aims to empower the most vulnerable groups of refugees and the host community in Elazığ. With the earthquake incidences, this project will focus on improving the life of those affected by this disaster. The project will deliver protection services as case management, psychosocial support and awareness raising for the most vulnerable groups. Social cohesion activities targeting families, university students and those in the community are planned as well as non-formal education activities focusing on employment skills and life skills trainings.
Planned activities
- Individual and group psychosocial support, case management services, referral to legal, educational, health services
- Advisory, information services, and counselling services to empower most vulnerable groups of refugees
- Establishing community empowerment committees
- Social and cultural activities, sports and Turkish language clubs
- Soft skills and employment skills courses, life skills sessions and Demo Day
